This blog is...

I forgot this site existed! But now that I've rediscovered it, I think I'll use it. I will be posting game ideas I get and throw in some pictures and stories I have will living in Japan. So to kick things off I have game idea number 1.

Drunk Driving!

Objective: get home okay
Gameplay mechanics: You drive cars, each level has a different car. Difficulty comes by way of what type of car you are driving. For instance one level will have you driving a super fast car. And because you are drunk you will find it very hard to drive it at a normal speed and on top of that finding the break will also be difficult. Other cars will be like, normal family cars, large trucks and so on. Time of day is also a factor, could you drive home drunk in the middle of rush hour? Could you drive home with children in the car? Your success is determined by wether or not you hit anything or the cops bust you. There is no life bar or anything, there shouldnt be a second chance for running full speed into someones car. I guess there could be a "you got pulled over" mini game though.

I guess due to the nature of the issue this game is dealing with it would have to be rather serious. I mean i dont think you could make a happy time game about driving home drunk. I just wouldnt feel right about it. Though I like my games visually to be colorful and I dont think there would be anything wrong with that. Weather could be a factor in the game play. I think driving drunk in a heavy rain storm would be rather difficult.

Story:
Each stage should have a story. You're driving home, so you have to have a reason why. Wether it be to just go home and sleep or make it home safely to your family. Scenarios could be like you're in a band and you get trashed at a party and you just need to make it home OK so you can make it to your gig tomorrow. Or you're a father that needs to just get home because its late. these dont need to be epics, but i think the story has to be heavy enough to make the user think about his actions.

The pay off:
Hopefully the game rewards the user by making them feel good about what they did. This can be accomplished by way of cut scenes. The game has no points system and no life bars so i think the difficulty in itself will make the cutscenes rewarding.

I don't know how this game would turn out in terms of gameplay, it sounds like it could be frustrating. With such a sensitive issue though I don't think theres any other way to go about it.

It would work on any system really.

If it was on the wii maybe you could actually get drunk to heighten the experience.
